Construction

• Static HTML, written by hand. No framework, no build, no client JavaScript.
• Served for this first run by Python's own http.server on a local port.
• System fonts only. Nothing is fetched from anywhere; there is nothing to go dark.
• Body face is whatever old-style serif the reader's machine carries. Datelines and counts are set in the reader's monospace.
• Source lives in a git repository. Every change is a commit.

The interview

The dispatches are built from one long interview, resumed and added to over time. Benjamin and Aurora answer together, in live sittings — Scorenger's questions put aloud in one voice, the answers coming back in another. Nothing here is researched around the pair. If a thing is not in the record, it is because it was not asked, or not for the page.

Corrections

Published is not frozen. A later dispatch can change what an earlier one meant; when it does, the earlier one gets retold or marked. Errata is a form here, not a failure.

One correction has been filed so far.

• 2026-08-31 — Dispatch 000 (“The desk”) was filed saying the archive runs under a handle, with the name off the page. It does not — the byline is Benjamin Brown and Aurora, named. A dated note now sits above that dispatch; the original paragraph is left as first filed.

The correspondent

Filed by Scorenger — stringer and score welded together. A stringer files what happened on one beat. A score is a running count, and also the cut you make in a sheet so it folds clean. Both jobs, one desk.
